A Little ‘Me Time’ in the Sunshine

Summer is still in full swing, however, it's regretfully coming to a close rather quickly, especially if you have little kids that will be going back to school soon. As a result, you need to be taking advantage of these warm days and making a little bit of TLC “me time” in the summer sunshine. To TLC, “me time” is all about finding moments throughout the day that bring you pure happiness and tranquility whether that be by yourself or with loved ones. To try and make some more moments of “me time” before the summer’s end, here are a few ideas for inspiration!

I don’t know about you, but when I think of summer I think of frozen sweet treats. I have vivid memories of making homemade ice cream during the summer with my family while visiting my grandparents who retired at a small and cozy lake house; days out in the boiling hot sun ended by bowls filled with heaping handfuls of toppings is the epitome of summer in my mind. Thus, if you’re looking for a little bit of “me time” and a cute activity to get the family together at the end of a day full of activities, think about making some homemade ice cream or popsicles. Both are rather simple processes, albeit normally long processes, that will bring the family together at the end of the day. Everyone will be silent in their own tranquil little bubble, satisfied by the day passed and content with the sweet treat in their hand. Whether you make the ice cream/popsicle making a family event throughout the day, or simply relish in the quiet time together that these sweet treats bring, you can make a uniquely summer moment of “me time” with either one!

Sticking with the idea of food -because we all love an excuse to eat more food- go on a picnic! Whether it be a date with yourself, an outing with the significant other, a cute moment with the kiddos, or a lounging session with the girlfriends, a picnic is an easy, yet completely summer event that will create a beautiful moment of “me time” for you to cherish. You could spice it up with bakery goodies and fancy charcuterie boards, or make it simple with homemade sandwiches and juice boxes; whatever it may be, taking some time to eat some good food and lounge out in the sun at your favorite park is a perfect way to create a moment just for yourself.

Now if you want to stay away from the food but still want to go lounging in a park with those you love (or by yourself), having an arts and crafts picnic date is another cute and summery option that will allow you to soak up some rays while attending to your own mental health. Set out a blanket at your favorite park and spend the day painting in the cozy sunshine with your kiddos or with your girlfriends. Remember, you don’t have to be good at something to have fun with it!

If your social battery truly has run out and you simply want to spend some time alone but also benefit from the warmth of the summer rays, go to your backyard patio, a local park, or a restaurant with an outdoor patio and spend the afternoon sipping away on your favorite refreshment while reading a book. This quiet and somber activity will let you have a truly tranquil afternoon that is sure to create a quality moment of “me time” unlike any other.

During the summer it may be hard to create moments of “me time” using your TLC candles. Nevertheless, there are plenty of outdoor activities that you can take part in that are sure to give you the same euphoric feeling of serenity and happiness that striking a match to a hand-crafted TLC candle also gives you. Hopefully what we talked about today will give you some inspiration on how you can create your own moments of “me time” out in the sunshine this summer!
